Religion
Religion was a very important part of life to the Minoans. The Minoans worshiped primarily goddesses, but there is evidence of a few male gods being a part of their religions.
Some of the more prominent goddesses would be Mother Goddess of fertility, the Mistress of Animals, and a protector of cities, the household, the harvest and the underworld, who's name is unknown. These goddesses are often represented by different animals such as serpents or birds.
In ancient times it was very common for civilizations to make an offering to a divine figure that they worshiped. This offering could be anything from a personal possession, an animal, or even a person. In sacrificial rituals Minoans primarily used bulls, however, there is evidence that they may have performed human sacrifices at times.
